The Global Donors Forum (GDF) and the World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists (WCMP) are issuing an urgent call to action in response to the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza. Recent developments have intensified the crisis, with Israeli airstrikes resulting in significant Palestinian casualties, including civilians, amidst ongoing ceasefire negotiations. Source: https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israeli-fire-kills-four-palestinians-gaza-amid-new-ceasefire-talks-2025-03-11/

The situation has been further exacerbated by Israel’s intensified siege on Gaza, including the halting of humanitarian aid and cutting of electricity, aimed at pressuring Hamas into revising ceasefire agreements and releasing hostages. These measures have led to significant humanitarian issues in Gaza, with risks of food and fuel shortages.

In light of these developments, GDF 2025, scheduled for April 14–16, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Istanbul Ataköy, will prioritise discussions on Gaza’s humanitarian emergency. The forum will convene global philanthropists, policymakers, and humanitarian leaders to develop coordinated strategies aimed at providing immediate relief and fostering long-term resilience in Gaza.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Emergency Relief Coordination: Aligning philanthropic efforts to ensure rapid delivery of essential aid, including food, water, and medical supplies.
  • Healthcare System Support: Investing in the restoration and strengthening of Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure to address immediate and future medical needs.
  • Economic Empowerment: Funding programs that promote economic self-sufficiency, such as vocational training and support for local enterprises.

“The scale of suffering in Gaza requires an unprecedented philanthropic response,” said Tariq Cheema, founder of GDF and WCMP. “We must act collectively and decisively to alleviate immediate hardships and lay the foundation for sustainable recovery.”

GDF 2025 aims to serve as a catalyst for actionable commitments and collaborative efforts to address the crisis in Gaza. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, the forum seeks to harness the power of strategic philanthropy to make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected.
